Dr. Andre Luiz Dos Santos Silva

André Luiz dos Santos Silva (he/his) is a researcher and professor at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) in Brazil, where he obtained his PhD in Human Movement Sciences. He is a member of the Brazilian College of Sports Sciences (CBCE), a scientific organization that awarded his doctoral thesis an academic prize. He leads the Study Group on Gender Relations, Education, and Violence (GERGEV), a collective that brings together researchers and undergraduate and postgraduate students. Under his supervision, they investigate gender relations in contexts with high levels of violence against women in various cities in southern Brazil, focusing on sports, leisure practices, and school dynamics. His research is funded by the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq/Brazil) and has resulted in a substantial number of articles and book chapters, as well as contributions to the development of public sports and leisure policies and guidelines for partner schools.
